The Aristocrat of the Gundog group. There is nothing glamorous about him, his smooth coat reveals an outline that is the epitome of a working gundog. Symmetry and a balanced series of graceful curves, show strength, endurance and speed. He is ever alert, with a kind even disposition.

The pointer is one of the oldest breeds of sporting dog. He is believed to have been introduced into England from Spain, towards the end of the 17^th Century. As the shooting field has changed over the years, the Pointer is no longer in quite the same demand he once was. However he can adapt himself very easily to any situation. This makes him the ideal companion and family dog. A pointer loves your company, attaches to his family, is very playful and friendly with children. It is also a large dog and needs a safe and fenced garden.

Coat care is minimal and the wonderful sheen is produced by a well balanced diet, and regular grooming with a hound glove.
